TS stands for transport stream and is a standard digital container format for transmission and storage of audio, video, and Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) data. TS files are not as common today, but are still a great format which rely on the MPEG codec. You can actually change the .ts extension to .MPEG which will allow you to play the video on a wider variety of software programs.
MPEG or MPG is a popular format for movies distributed over the internet. MPEG stands for Moving Picture Experts Group and was established in 1988. In 1993, MPEG created MPEG-1, the initial version of MPEG video and audio compression. Both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 compression standards have been utilized in encoding video for over-the-air digital television broadcasts, DVDs, and home movies. Using MPEG compression, the file size of a multimedia file can be significantly reduced with little noticeable loss in quality. This makes transferring files over the internet more efficient, which helps conserve internet bandwidth.
Simply drag and drop your ts file within the upload zone above. Alternatively you can click the big blue button that says "Upload File". If your file is not of ts type, then the system will automatically detect the file for you.
Once your ts video is uploaded (it doesn't have to be ts, we will automatically detect the format if it's different), you will see a progress bar.
In a matter of seconds (typically) you will see the video, with it's metadata on the right. At the top of the metadata you will see a format dropdown button. The default will be mpeg, but you can change the format on the fly, once you're happy, you can click the convert button.
Give it a few minutes to convert your ts file into mpeg (or which ever formats you have defined). Depending on your settings and the output format it could take a moment.
