VOB or Video Object is a video container format contained within DVD-Video media. Video Object or VOB is a MPEG-2 program stream format. It contains the actual Video, Audio, Subtitle, and Menu contents in stream form. If the VOB filename extension is changed from .vob to an MPEG-2 type file extension such as .mpg or .mpeg, the file is still readable and continues to hold all information, although most MPEG-2-capable players don't support subtitle tracks.
WMV stands for Windows Media Video and is a series of video codecs developed by Microsoft. WMV files are a part of the Windows Media framework. WMV version 9 was adapted for physical-delivery formats such as HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc. A WMV file uses the Advanced Systems Format (ASF) container format. The ASF container can optionally support digital rights management using a combination of elliptic curve cryptography key exchange. So while the WMV format is generally packed together into an ASF container, it can also be put into the Matroska[6] container format. The first version of the format, WMV 7, was introduced in 1999, and was built upon Microsoft's implementation of MPEG-4 Part 2
Simply drag and drop your vob file within the upload zone above. Alternatively you can click the big blue button that says "Upload File". If your file is not of vob type, then the system will automatically detect the file for you.
Once your vob video is uploaded (it doesn't have to be vob, we will automatically detect the format if it's different), you will see a progress bar.
In a matter of seconds (typically) you will see the video, with it's metadata on the right. At the top of the metadata you will see a format dropdown button. The default will be wmv, but you can change the format on the fly, once you're happy, you can click the convert button.
Give it a few minutes to convert your vob file into wmv (or which ever formats you have defined). Depending on your settings and the output format it could take a moment.
Be patient on this step, you can enter your email if you would like to get a downloadable link when it is ready. This is nice if you need to leave and get a link while on the go. When it's done you will have a free wmv file that you can download with no strings attached. If you would like to edit the video, then Motionbox has an awesome video editor for you.
