Split a video into chunks
Splitting clips into multiple clips is an essential tool in video production. With Motionbox it's super easy to implement so that your videos look 🔥. All you need to do is select the clip you want to split, then press the 's' key on the keyboard to split it where the current time marker is. With this tool you can add cool b-roll film between parts of footage. You can also trim out fat within the clip that doesn't offer the story much value.
How to split video clips
Upload Clip
We host your videos for you. Simply upload your video using our uploader. We accept .mp4, .ogg, .webm, .mov, .quicktime, and more.
Add Clip
Find the uploaded clip in the sidebar and click it to add to the timeline. You will see handles on the ends.
Split Clip
On an active clip you can move the time cursor to the section you want to split. Then press 's' on the keyboard to make two clips out of one.
Why split clips?
Remove fat
Some clips you have may contain parts that aren't interesting. Using the split tool makes it easy to remove these fatty parts.
Remove fillers
You might have a video that needs 'umms', 'likes', and dead space removed so it's more engaging.
Add B-roll
One video style that stands out is inspirational videos with b-roll in between clips. This is now an easy video style to make.
