How to use the VHS overlay
Upload Media
Motionbox makes it easy for you to drag and drop your image over the editor. You can also click the upload button in the navigation to the left, select uploads, then click upload. Before you use the VHS effect it would be good to get a video or image on the timeline first.
Select VHS overlay
Under the elements tab in the left sidebar navigation you will see an option for filters. The one you will one in this case is the VHS overlay filter. From here you can play around with it on the timeline, you can stretch the time of the filter to take the duration of the entire video or make it a short lived filter, your call.

When you're happy with the how the VHS overlay filter looks, you can proceed to edit the video until you're happy, then simply export your project as a GIF or a video.
